About Erika
Erika Hendrickson Parks has been teaching for six years; three of
those years were as a long term substitute in both the Grossmont and San
Diego Unified School district in the general education and special
education setting. Erika was contracted at Riley and realized her
passion for special education which inspired her to earn a second
credential. She then transitioned to New Dawn as she always envisioned
herself teaching high school students since childhood (pretending to
teach in her mother’s classroom).
Erika earned her BA and Single Subject Teaching Credential at San Diego
Christian College where she received a basketball scholarship, followed
by her Mild/Moderate Special Education Credential and her Masters at San
Diego State University. She currently teaches English, Biology, Art,
and Applied Math.
Erika recently married her high school sweetheart (2016) and outside of
her professional interests, she continues to play basketball on adult
leagues and officiate high school CIF sanctioned basketball. Erika also
enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, attending social gatherings, and
arts and crafts.
